Boston University: Sydney - Sydney Internship Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to relax and not preoccupy myself with unneccesary worries. I also learned a lot at my internship that I may not have had the opportunity to learn in the states because of my lack of previous experience.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I think that the content of the courses was very helpful in getting to understand the Australian culture. I also felt that the professors were very invested in what they were teaching and in the amount of knowledge that their students gained. However, there wasn't a great deal of pressure for outstanding grades and they seemed to think highly of the intelligence levels of students from the United States so difficulty levels weren't too high.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Each advisor was known personally and was willing to provide much attention to the students. They even provided their cell phone numbers to students.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

the location was outstanding for nightlife and close to the school but there was only one kitchen per floor of the building instead of in each room.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Awesome night life. Great museums and history.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? This program is outstanding because they personally place you in an internship in a field that you desire and they teach you things that you would only learn from native Australians. However, there is also a great deal of free time that allows you to explore Sydney itself as well as take some trips to explore other parts of Australia.
