Boston University: Dublin - Internship Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained a sense of security in myself that is even different from that at college. I also learned about Ireland and Europe and their cultures in comparison to the US. It was absolutely worthwhile.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

You provided your own food, so it was your responsibility whether you cooked or ate out.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The program did not aid us in any way in connecting with local students or any locals. Fortunately I took it on myself to participate in things in the community in order to get to know people in Dublin, but as for the program, it did not provide any help.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Dublin is like any city, use common sense when out at night and avoid any fights that might be happening and otherwise the city is quite safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? It's quite easy to get sucked up into your work and eat out regularly, however once you have settled after the first couple weeks, cooking at home will save tremendously.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
