What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Life is good in New Zealand - from the climate to the lifestyle. I truly miss it a lot. If my home friends and family were closer i would still be there.

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The University of Auckland was a very well-run system with solid course offerings. The workload was challenging and courses were larger than my American University, however the grading system was fair, and the teaching methods were quite solid.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

My expectations were exceeded in the program offerings at Auckland University. There was a vast range of program and club offerings which allowed you to explore some amazing opportunities.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The residence was condo style living with 5-6 bedrooms per unit. We were settled on the edge of the Auckland domain in a gated community with a location that could not be beat. Cookware and sheets were there, the walk was about 25 minutes to school (or bus - however I always enjoyed the walk). Nightlife in the city was always available all though not necessarily right next to the residence. The community had students from all over the world, which was a wicked opportunity to meet people from many cultures.

* Food:

The meals were up to the residents to cook in their kitchens. In Auckland, try the sushi!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

There were a number of cultural attractions offered by Auckland University demonstrating the Maori culture, which were quite impressive. This program made it up to the individual to arrange events in travel. The good thing is that in New Zealand travel is very easy.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

No Problems.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Direct Enrollment/Exchange

* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? Direct Enrollment

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? This program will be most geared for a very independent and open-minded student who is excited about meeting people from all over the world and will be happy to arrange their own travels throughout the semester.
