About

This course studies Argentine Tango and contemporary Buenos Aires from multiple perspectives. Dancing Tango offers a very special perspective to the notions of power and leadership with great demonstration of class, balance, and equality within and outside the dance floor. Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city in Argentina with a population of almost 3 million, and located on the Atlantic coast. Its rich, multicultural heritage make it one of the most visited cities in Latin America, and the perfect base for exploring tango, history, and contemporary culture of Argentina.No prior dance experience is necessary.

In this 10-day program students will:

  • Learn about the unique culture of Tango, the history of the dance, and its development leading up to its world heritage designation;

  • Understand how the dance intersects with the history of Argentina in general and Buenos Aires in particular;

  • Participate in a 5-day tango workshop, learning the dance etiquette as well as steps;

  • Explore the bustling capital city of Buenos Aires.
