Arcadia: London - London Internship Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
How to adapt and love in a foreign country! Definitely worthwhile, I was able to have a blast all over Europe with American students from all over.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes were pretty straight forward and not incredibly difficult or work intensive. Most of them required a couple small assignments and one final research paper.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

When I was there it was a relatively new team of people I think. Sometimes it was hard to get questions answered but overall they were pretty helpful.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in a two bedroom, two and a half bath apartment with four other girls. We were right at the center of everything in London. I absolutely loved our living arrangements. We even had a maid that came once a week!

* Food:

There was no meal plan with this program. But we were surrounded by good restaurants, markets and grocery stores. It was pretty expensive to eat in London.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt that living in an apartment and doing the internship really boosted my ability to integrate into the local culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Didn't have any really healthcare issues but it was easy to get medicine if needed.

* Safety:

I never felt in danger in London.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It was very expensive to live in London.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $300
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Grocery shop and make your own food as much as possible.
