Overall Experience
A student studying abroad with Arcadia: Limerick - University of Limerick
I gained a wider network of friends and contacts, the confidence to travel anywhere on my own, and knowledge from my classes that I can use in different aspects of my career and life. This trip was completely worthwhile. - Transylvania University View Entire Review
I think that primarily I learned how to adapt, as there were many situations that arose that were unfamiliar or out of my comfort zone to me, and it was necessary to be flexible and adaptable in order to deal with these situations. - Middlebury College View Entire Review

I gained a lot of self-confidence and problem solving ability. Overall, I was very pleased with my study abroad experience. I wish I could have lived with an Irish family to get more of a cultural experience, but that's really the only thing I would change about the program. I liked the amount of independence balanced with the s... - Trinity University View Entire Review

I learned a lot about how to become independent. The professors allow students to choose what interests them in the classes and research further. I was welcomed into many groups with Irish students and they showed me how to be Irish and what it meant. Stereotypes were proven wrong about both Irish and American culture, and I thi... - Wartburg College View Entire Review

University of Limerick is a modern, vibrant university of 16,000 students, established in 1972. Located in the west of Ireland, it’s host to many of County Limerick’s cultural events (with the first purpose-built University concert hall in Ireland). UL is very popular with international students, with over 3,000 international students from 100 countries,  who enjoy easy access to both the city and the surrounding beautiful countryside. It’s also close to Shannon Airport, making it easy to travel further afield.

A lively student body, world-class sporting facilities and a warm campus atmosphere, with students housed in seven student villages, along with over 80 clubs and societies (voted #1 in the UK and Ireland for its Students Union and  #1 in Ireland for its clubs and societies),  ensure that you’ll make friends and have plenty of fun activities waiting for you. The University boasts strengths in the sciences, business, technology, and engineering, and fosters numerous international research partnerships, along with close ties to industry sectors in many different research areas.  It is one of the leading Irish universities for business, with an AACSB accredited business school, and collaborates  with the nearby National Technology Park which houses over 80 organizations.

UL offers a wide range of subjects, including many interdisciplinary course choices, strong STEM offerings, and popular sport and exercise science options. Best of all, you can cross-register across departments, creating a bespoke courseload that meets your needs and interests.

Travel to fascinating places of interest that enhance your cultural immersion and give a meaningful context to your academic courses.  Here is a sampling:

  • Belfast Weekend

  • Giant's Causeway

  • Cliffs of Moher
