What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was a great experience, the only thing is that i wish that i could have taken classes that would have counted towards my major. Also though ireland is a lot of fun it is quite difficult to visit other countries because of the distance not only to the the country itself but you have to put on an extra 3 hours to get to the airport.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

for the most part the classes were graded based on a midterm and a final which were essays for all but one, minus one which was a continuous through a project due throughout the term.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

It is pretty big school and there are a lot of international students who attend.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

everything was really safe arcadia puts you in a great place as well as making sure you are integrated with irish students. The housing is town-house kitchen the only thing is that americans get the only double in the house instead of a single like the irish.

* Food:

tesco got the best prices and they are also the nicest and its close to the where you'll live. All the pubs are pretty good as well but it gets price especially with drink. The best is the skieff, minus the really expensive places, as well as gravey's and the king's head.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

the homestay was a lot of fun as well as the dinners though i was unable to make the dinner though even though i had made an objection to its date. I actually missed all of the other programs for various reasons.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

galway really safe and friendly and pretty small so their aren't that many incidents anything of note usually happened in pubs or clubs. i actually ended up going to the hospital though because of a sporting (head) injury and it took a while in the ER and once inside but they patched me up all right.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? i ended up in the hospital because of a sport accident and had to pay 200 euro at the hospital so couldn't plan for that. Try to but things in bulk if possible and shop for the deals

Individual Course Reviews

Course Name/Rating:

Bioethics

Course Department: Philosophy 240
Instructor: Dr. Hull
Instruction Language: English
Comments: He is really smart and the class is really interesting as well as relevant to the current day. Dr. Hull makes the class go by providing outrageous examples that happen and then proving how they would be ok in some ethical thought. A most take.
Credit Transfer Issues: Im still waiting but it should come back as an ethics class which is a core at PC
