I grew academically and personally from my time spent abroad. - Middlebury College View Entire Review
Studying abroad has shown my how limited my view of the world was. I have always been passionate about international studies and considered myself to be quite "worldly", but it turns out that you can't truly appreciate the world until you have lived in other parts of it. This is a lesson that I will carry with me throughout both... - Rhodes College View Entire Review
I gained work experience and had a lot of fun, but it was a program that could have been located in the states, there was very little integration with Scottish society - Trinity University View Entire Review

About

What better place to experience the cut and thrust of legislative operations than the Scottish Parliament - at a pivotal time in its history as the debate continues over Scotland's national identity and political future within Great Britain and Europe. This exciting program with the prestigious University of Edinburgh, is offered during both the semester and the summer. It brings you a unique opportunity to help make history by working with members of the Scottish Parliament, which re-opened in 1999 after its suspension in 1707.

You’ll be matched with a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) according to your mutual policy interests.

As the cornerstone courses are taught at an advanced level, previous university-level coursework in political science and/or related fields is required. You will enroll in three courses at the University of Edinburgh, covering British politics, Scottish politics, society and culture during the first 5 weeks of the program. Your internship will take place during the final 10 weeks during which you will conduct a major academic project and research report.

This is an unparalleled practical and academic experience for students of government, law, politics, history, economics or sociology. You’ll delve into the culture, history and politics of Scotland and the UK through engaging academic courses and the opportunity to complete significant research under the direction of a member of the Scottish Parliament.
