What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I loved studying in Granada. I love speaking spanish and i was able to get a firm grasp on the language, even becoming fluent. I made lots of friends and travelled all over Europe while I was there. I would definitely recommend it. The culture is incredible and the food is out of this world. Definitely go to Granada, Espana!

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I took classes taught entirely in spanish. Learned a good amount in most of them, but most importantly, talking and listening to only spanish helped me become fluent.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They were very helpful for us to find things to do, places to go and fixing problems we had at the university.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in a residencia, Residencia Nuestra Senora de Gracia (dorm within an apartment building). It housed about 40 students. About 15 of them were americans studying abroad, the rest spanish students. We all hung out together, great for language aprehension and practice. They also showed us around the city and included us in a lot.

* Food:

Granada has some of the best food in the world. Tapas are free and incredible and there are numerous amazing restaurants.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Always something cool to do and see in Granada

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

At night, walking alone seems a little sketchy, but otherwise perfectly safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

Came into the program semi-fluent, but from taking classes entirely in spanish i became fluent throughout the program

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Best bang for your buck. API is one of the lowest cost for the most activities. Lots of fun people and things to do.
