Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was a very different way of teaching there. The teachers are much more focused on current events and are willing to bring that into class conversation which was refreshing and made it fun.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The school is very small and there are few people working on the office side of things. It makes it a little difficult for things to happen fast and efficiently. However nothing ever was that aweful and again you get what you pay for with the low cost of the program.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The apartments through this program are great! They are small and there are 3 apartments that can hold 4 people in each. You get to be close with all of the people you live with. The down side of the aparments are that they are located about a 20-30min tram ride from the downtown center in Prague but it was helpful with learning the public transportation quickly because we had to.

* Food:

The food there is different but for the most part I really liked it. They had food that even picky eaters could find something of interest.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I absolutely loved everything about being exposed to a new culture and traveling around to see others. It gives you a whole new perspective on life. The first week of the program kids that went to the university we were attending came out to eat with us and we all became friends. They all knew alot of people that went to the school as well, in most cases for longer than just a semester, and we made alot of new friends that way, it was great.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

You get health insurance through the program which is mandatory and I felt safe for the most part but there wasn't much they could do for that I feel.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? No more than $100 on food a week and thats including going out a few nights. Going out to each in the czech republic is VERY reasonable.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I spent about $150 a week on average some weeks a little more some weeks and little less. I wish I had saved more money for traveling. Its so easy to travel and staying in hostels which can easily be booked through hostelworld.com are cheap ways to travel. But for times like spring break there are alot of really cool places to go such as greece, italy, and ireland but they are pricy and I wish I had more than I needed, however I dont think you can ever have enough it's important to just budget yourself from the beginning and figure out how much you can spend each week after all of your big expenses are taken care of in the beginning. I would recommended putting and extra $500-$700 for expenses right when you get there/ getting there (paying extra for heavy bags on the flight, ect.) because you go through alot of money right when you get there just on necessities.
