What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
My experience was definitely worth wild! I had so much fun while growing professionally through the ACN Marketing Internships and Slager Communications and traveling all over the world.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Educationally, ACN is perfect for students coming abroad to not only learn but travel as well. The courses offered gave the opportunity to learn about different areas of Europe and places where I traveled. For example, I got the chance to take a course on Arctic Politics and Policies then travel to Longyearbean, Svalbard. It was a really good way to learn more about Norway and the Arctic and have the opportunity to travel around those regions as well.

On-site administration of your program

The administration was incredible. All of the faculty was friendly, outgoing and always willing to help. They had answers for all of my questions as an American coming to a brand new country. ACN and its' faculty made the transition from UND to Norway easy.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved my apartment at ACN. I had everything I needed and was close to the school, which was a huge bonus.

* Food:

There are good places to eat all around Moss and Oslo (which was really close to Moss)!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Going to the American College of Norway, I went to school with both Americans and Norwegians so just by talking to my classmates I became integrated into the Norwegian culture. Plus ACN staff helped move me in, take me shopping and show me around Moss.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I have had no need for healthcare during my time abroad.

* Safety:

I felt completely safe at all times. Moss is such a cute little town and didn't have any issues.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I loved the American College of Norway because I got to travel, meet new people and learn more about the world.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I had a good plan through UND but I didn't realize how expensive it would be once I got to Norway and started traveling.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Honestly, I'm not sure.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Plan out your trips and get a credit card. Also try not to go out to eat that much, that's where it gets expensive!
