American College Dublin: Irish Language & Culture Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Studying abroad here in Ireland has helped me gain a lot of cultural knowledge and history. Choosing to study abroad with American College Dublin has been the best decision. I made a lot of new friends and got to experience things that I wouldn't have gotten to otherwise. This trip has made me appreciate Ireland so much more. If I could go back and do it all again, I would.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes we had taught us a lot about Irish culture and history. The professors have been very helpful and able to answer any questions we have had. We took field trips to museums,galleries, and other places around Ireland for a fun way to learn!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

American College Dublin had placed the students in a house right by Temple Bar. This is a great location because it is right in the middle of everything. We did not have to walk far to get to the school or other places. There was always something to do nearby!

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The people living in Ireland are a lot more laid back than what I was used to. It was easy to meet new people when out because most of the people are friendly.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Going out to buy lunches everyday can get expensive. Going to a grocery store and buying lunches or snacks for the week saves a lot of money.
