By (Cinematography and Film/Video Production., University of Hartford) for

AIFS: Cannes - Campus International de Cannes

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained a lot of independence

Personal Information

The term and year this program took place: Spring 2009

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

This school is really wonderful at teaching french.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The programs administrator was hardly used because she never responded to emails promptly

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The housing was very nice and i had no complaints

* Food:

The food was better on some days then others and breakfast is a little plain during the week.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We were encouraged to speak french all the time and we were always given activities to do but if you wanted to do your own think then that was cool too.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Health issues could only be handled if you needed to go to the doctor off campus. They always check all the IDs to come into campus and they close the gate at night.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? A lot. Probably around $700 a month.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Make sure to bugdet your traveling expenses on places you really want to go to because the prices are more expensive then you would think they are.

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

I started out as a beginner and when i left i had finished all four of my univiersities basic class and now I am going into french Literature.
