Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Being abroad totally opened my eyes to a world I had never really thought about before. I was able to connect and find similarities between my life and the lives of other international students that I wouldn't have thought existed. "

"I gained a broader sense of what my place is in the world. I feel more open-minded, daring, and outgoing than I was before. It was even more worthwhile to study in Singapore because I chose to do so for an entire academic year. It felt less touristy, and more real. Now that I'm back, I can surely say that my year abroad has alte..."

"Goin to University of East Anglia was the best decision I have ever made. It was love at first sight with both the university and with Norwich and it all suited me perfect. The last 5 months has not only given me memories for life and been the best time of my life, but it also gave me a new family. "

"I went to Bulgaria knowing almost nothing about the country, culture, language, etc..... I had no idea what to expect. Even though there were some challenges with the administration and program details, I loved the freedom I had to explore the city. Veliko Tarnovo is absolutely beautiful and very affordable. I got to explore the..."

"Too much to list, but it was beyond worthwhile. Maybe I'm not supposed to say this on a school supported survey, but do not study abroad and spend all your time studying. That would be a horrific waste of such a great opportunity. Put yourself out there, meet new people, challenge yourself. Become stronger. Become more soci..."

"I learned about the world in general. Going abroad helped me learn so much about different cultures and different people. Going to Israel was amazing. I met such great people and learned a lot about the Middle Eastern Cultures. I felt like I was immersed in the Israeli culture. I liked my program because it was sort of a mix bet..."

"I learned a lot about the world. Being around a lot of people who are not from the US and who travel frequently was very rewarding. My Turkish skills improved as well, and I feel much more comfortable with Turkish culture than when I first came. It was wonderful."
hunter.tolbert.1 The University of Texas at Austin
"Although the program was very worthwhile for me since I got to experience living in another country, adapting to the local lifestyle, and meeting and becoming good friends with many other exchange students, I realize that I would not choose to return to Singapore for study or work if I had the choice. Personally, the country is ..."

"It was absolutely worthwhile and definitely the best and most rewarding experience of my life so far. I gained so much from my time in Aix with my host family, the people at IAU, and everything that Aix has to offer as a city."

"I gained increased independence and comfortability while traveling last semester. This experience was absolutely worthwhile, and though I enjoyed my time at SOAS, it was most valuable because of how easily and cheaply I was able to travel between countries. I appreciated how different SOAS was from Wellesley, and that I was able..."

"I will now and forever have a home in another country and a foreign city that I can get around. I also learned a lot about another culture and learned life lessons about myself that I would never have learned otherwise. It was 100% worthwhile."
Daniel K University of Maryland - College Park
"I have gained so many skills and friendships while abroad. I am so glad I had the opportunity to have this experience. I've been able to feel more confident with myself and my ability to work through challenging situations. "Yes, it was worthwhile. The most important things I learned came from my experiences talking with my new exchange friends and flatmates. Traveling was also an amazing opportunity. I also liked being integrated with the other English students for classes. "

"I was able to live in an amazing city while getting job experience. The staff at ACD are extremely helpful and friendly with students, becoming friends with them rather than simply teaching. I made some great friends from the school and throughout the city."
A student New York University
"I gained so much confidence and experience from the ACD study abroad program. It was my first experience living on my own and working things out for myself. The internship I had taught me so much and is still a big talking point on my resume when I go for interviews. I also gained lasting friendships and a desire to travel as mu..."

"Wow. Okay, big question. I can't even begin describe how much I learned from my study abroad experience. I gained a lot of exposure to other countries/ cultures, traveled extensively, and performed well in new academic and social environments. I grew in courage and self-confidence. "It was absolutely a worthwhile experience I would recommend studying abroad to any body. I would especially recommend Rome, Italy because I really did feel like I was immersed in the culture of Rome. The food and history are also an extra bonus that both made my experience amazing. "
A student University of Maryland - College Park
"Living abroad taught me that I could be independent. Going by your self to another country is really a sink or swim type thing. You either have to learn to make friends, and get places on your own, or you will be alone in your room miserable. Luckily this experience changed me a lot and I grew into a new person in Ireland. I ma..."

""Nothing ventured, nothing gained". My study abroad experience in Ireland taught me that what one gains in college is not solely a text book education, but experiences and meeting fascinating new people. Not only did i receive an excellent education, but i can honestly say it was the best experience of my life. I encountered a n..."
