What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?

Personal Information

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The University grading system differs from the American one. There is a curve set for every class.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The field trips were sort of difficult to participate in. The money was made to be transferred through banks (wired) which created a problem for most students. Also the field trips were not properly described and so most did not know what they were signing up for.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

dining inside was not too good. Most of the restaraunts inside were expensive

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Jeju

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I was randomly affected by a major allergic reaction. I had no insurance so they said it would cost over 300 dollars just to have a check up. As an international student that was more than I could afforded just for a shot. They told me to wait until morning if I could when I told them that it was getting worse as time progressed.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? about 2000 for two months
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Remember about the cell phone rental expenses.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
