About

Study Engineering in China is designed to provide a unique opportunity for students to obtain global engineering experience in contemporary China. Students will visit major historical and industrial sites as well as high-tech research institutes in Chengdu, China. Students will join Professor Bin Liang’s research group in Sichuan University. The program includes lectures, lab visits, engineering field trips and engineering demonstrations.  Experienced engineers and faculty members in Sichuan University will be invited to lecture on special topics and advanced chemical engineering experience.  The topics may cover chemical, mechanical, biological and computer engineering. 

Engineering field trips together with Chinese students in Sichuan University include a tour of more than 2000 years old irrigation system, Giant Panda Park, Leshan Giant Buddha (the largest Buddha statue in the world). Students will enjoy sightseeing, Chinese folk dance, music and Chinese arts arranged and provided by Sichuan University. WMU students will interact with Sichuan University students in the same class. Dr. Bin Liang from Sichuan University and Dr. Dewei Qi from WMU will be the co-instructors and will accompany the group throughout the program. This program will allow students to explore global engineering opportunities and strengthen working skills with global engineering disciplines.
