What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to be assertive in French (which is very necessary) and the historical background of the Provence region, which I really enjoyed.

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The experience was very different than what I am used to in the U.S. but I found myself learning how to adapt quickly to the French academic system, which was at times frustrating.

I realized that I prefered a program that is in a main city but I enjoyed exploring Aix on my own and learning more about it's history.

Finances

Living with a host family and having dinner often helped out with expenses

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? When it comes to finding extracurriculars, it should be very easy to find free activities!

The program would remind us to speak in French the entire time, it's just that not all of the students were willing to stick to speaking in French outside the classroom...

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish that I took a bit more time researching the city the program was going to be placed at, because I wasn't really as comfortable as I thought I would have been.
