What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Loved my study abroad experience! Met some amazing friends that I still communicate with to today. I would love to go back to Athens to share it with my close friends and family!! It was such an amazing experience and a great city to be in for the summer!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Great! Classes were taught by English speaking professor. Classes were taught Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday so that students could travel on the weekends. Professor was engaged and was concerned about students learning the materials.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Adviser was awesome! She kept us up to date on important information and answered all questions with in a timely manner. Program size was perfect about 15 students in my study abroad program and about 10-15 in classes. My expectations were met and more! They provided guided tours on some weekends and an orientation to make sure everyone knew where to go to get things they needed.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Lived in an apartment with 10 other girls. Neighborhood was extremely safe, off a block from the plaka area. Was about a 4 minute walk to school, 5-10 to main metro/bus lines and about 10-15 minute walk to the acropolis. Needed to bring sheets, they provided laundry facilities and dishware. The internet was not working in the apartment though, school was close enough to get internet within a short walking distance.

* Food:

Wonderful food! Flavorful and the ripest tomatoes i've never had!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Planned trips to delphi, ancient olympia, mycene and a few other places. We saw all the major sites in Athens as well as toured some of the islands for relatively cheap prices, including Santorini, Aegina, Hydra and a few others.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Our adviser always made safety number 1. The first night we were in Athens we had a safety orientation, spoke about where not to go in the city and what to do in certain situations. When there was a strike (which there were only one or two) we were alerted by our adviser and told where they were and from what time. Did not need to visit any health care clinics.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
