Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was much less than what I was used to at my home university. However I appreciated that I didn't spend hours a day doing work because that allowed me to go and experience the culture, travel and get involved in sports/programs and that it what studying abroad should be about!

On-site administration of your program

The program directors were willing to help us in any way they could, whether it be opening a bank account or looking for job opportunities. This was made possible by the small program size (about 25 full year students and 30 semester students) because they were able to offer individual attention to anyone who needed it.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

We lived in a student apartment complex that was the perfect environment for meeting both local and international students. The location was conveniently located near bus and train stations so it was easy to get to wherever you needed to go. The city park was also right behind the buildings which was perfect for any and all athletic activities or if you wanted to spend the afternoon laying in the grass along the river or enjoy a beer in a Biergarten. Our program provided the opportunity to buy "packages" from previous students that included cookware, electronics, bedding, etc, really anything that you could want to make your apartment feel like home. This was extremely beneficial and convenient to incoming students.

We had our own kitchen in our aparments and a grocery store down the street so cooking was easy and convenient.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Traveling in Europe is incredibly easy, affordable and convenient. Most weekends we would plan a trip--sometimes just a quick train ride down to the Alps for a hike and sometimes a cheap flight over to Spain or France. Also, the nightlife in Munich is INCREDIBLE.

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Our program set us up with German health insurance so we had no problems going to German doctors. Munich is one of the safest cities in Europe. I never felt in danger, even if it was 3 in the morning in the subway station. No need to worry about being alone at night!

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

All of our coursework was in German, which was extremely beneficial since German was needed in our everyday life. Although most people in Germany speak English, most were very willing to converse in German and help you with your language skills.
