I learned a lot about myself while studying in Spain. It was not a country that I had always wanted to go to desperately but it has since become a home to me in many ways. The people in Spain are incredible! The culture focuses on the daily joys of life as well as the stimulation of the senses. Spaniards live to love life, w... I learned that my own culture in the USA is not the normal. Every place along with the USA has it's own culture that's unique in it's own way. By understanding this I have been able to be more open minded and less judgmental to new places and people. My abroad experience was most definitely worth while because of all of the peop... It's hard to explain how much I learned because I don't think words could explain it. But I am overall a more independent person and much more open-minded. This experience was 100% worthwhile and I would recommend it to anyone. Hailey J - University of Wisconsin - River Falls View Entire Review
This experience is invaluable. For me, studying abroad opened up my views about the world and the people in it. As a future educator, it is vital to understand that everyone is different and see those differences as strengths. After studying abroad, I have an appreciation for diversity and an understanding that could only be f... A student - University of Wisconsin - Platteville View Entire Review

One thing I gained was more confidence in speaking Spanish. Before I went over, I rarely spoke Spanish besides in my Spanish class, because I was scared I would mess up. My senora told me that messing up is how you learn. I also gained a greater appreciation for everything I have back here in the states. So yes it was worthw... I learned so much about language, and even more about the culture! For me, the most significant thing I learned about myself was that I am capable of adapting to new and strange situations, and that I can handle those things without the stress I used to have. k.mccarthy08 - University of Wisconsin - Whitewater View Entire Review
It was worthwhile. It also depends on who you have to experience it with. The education/traveling aspect was worthwhile. I wish I could have went with family or my significant other. I was disappointed how other students took for granted what we were experiencing, and how some students became extremely rude to locals and other ... Katie H - Loras College View Entire Review
I've learned that there is a whole big world out there that at times can seem completely strange and alien, but at other times simply breathtaking. You will learn a lot about the places you go, people you meet, new cultures, new friends, ect, but the thing you will learn most about is yourself. You'll discover strengths you neve...
