Utah Valley University: London - Literature and Theater

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot about myself that I can live on my own and with people I did not know very well at the beginning of the trip. I learned a lot about cultures and food and literatue and theatre. The whole experience was my favorite experiece of my life up to this point. I do not see how life can get any better than what it was while I was in Europe!

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The countries were beautiful. The instructors were helpful and courteous. I loved the whole experience for the most part!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Better than I was expecting.

* Food:

The food was very good at most sites. The Dr. Pepper is better in England than in the USA!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

All three countries I went to were wonderful.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I always felt a little nervous walking home at night by myself. I hardly did so because of this reason.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I thought the overall expenses over in London were all right. I came home with a lot more money than what I planned I would.

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes
* Was food included in your program cost? No
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $120
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Plan in advance how much money you want to spend and what you want to spend it on. England and Scotland were not that expensive like France became for the little time I was there.
