University of Wisconsin - Stout: Traveling - Retailing and Trends in Europe

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes! It was very helpful for what I want to do and will be great to show off details of the trip in interviews.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

My expectations were met! Professor was very helpful and knowleadgable about the different places we stayed.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing everywhere was very nice. Housing in London was the best-kitchens helped us save a lot of money on eating out every meal.

* Food:

I am a vegetarian so finding places with meatless food was sometimes a difficulty.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

London bus tour, Cannes bus tour

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Be careful when crossing streets!! They DO NOT stop for pedestrians, met another group in Scotland who had a student get hit by a car in London and was in a coma in the hospital. Do not travel alone EVER (mostly for girls!).

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Over $200 at least. Very expensive there, eating out every meal gets very spendy.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? You will shop more than you expected to and you will spend way more money on food.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Retail students would benefit most. DO NOT pack as much as you think you need!! Pack extremely lightly, you will shop and you also have to carry your luggage!
