Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The Communications course that I took at the University of Westminster was amazing! It was very informative, however, it wasn't too heavy. I appreciated that my professor designed the course in a way that made it less intense- so that I can go out and explore London after class. Additionally, I feel like I learned so many skills that I can take into my career. Overall, I feel like the academic course that I took was helpful in my studies because it allowed me to interact with students from different ethnic backgrounds and use that knowledge of diversity in communications in my career.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They were always there and available whenever needed.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in the Marylebone hall and it was beautiful, clean, and just absolutely perfect. It was a literal hotel during the summer, but it was simply perfect. I was lucky and received a penthouse room on the 21st floor with a fridge and a common area that was equipped with everything. My view was astonishing!!!!! But, the staff was rude. You have to go through the University of Westminster business school to get to the Marylebone Hall- meaning that you need your student ID. That's great, but when you want to have guests, it is a pain. Other then that, some of the security guards are rude and the resident hall staff was rude. I asked them a couple of times for simple things that I needed- like "how to work a machine" or other simple things and they had an attitude. Also, don't think about ordering food to the resident hall because you won't get it. Again, everyone has to have a student ID to get passed the business school, so the delivery drivers cannot get near the marylebone hall to contact anyone about their arrival. Also, most restaurants do not accept international phone numbers to contact you when they are there. Once they arrived, the staff at my hall were rude, again, in assisting me.

* Food:

There is no meal plan, or anything like that for the Summer. I'm not sure how it is during the academic year, so everything that I bought to eat was off campus. I really did not like any of food in London- but that is a personal preference that doesn't apply to everyone. The only place that I really enjoyed was Nandos! It is a delicious south african restaurant!!!! PLEASE TRY IT!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Coming from NYC, the culture in London wasn't very different.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I didn't have any experience with the healthcare system.

* Safety:

The security was tight, so I always felt safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

It was very similar to NYC.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

SAVE A LOT OF MONEY! LONDON IS EXPENSIVE!

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $400

Individual Course Reviews

Course Name/Rating:

Communications in the Workplace

Course Department: Liberal Studies
Instructor:
Instruction Language: English
Comments: This course was challenging in the sense that it caused me to think about the ways that I was taught to communicate in prior years of education, evaluate the ideas that I can evolve, and try again. It gave me a chance to see myself from a new perspective. Additionally, I was able to learn about how to communicate with people of other cultures after understanding that everyone is different. I really enjoyed this course and would take it again- if I could. My professor was also amazing and very helpful!
