University of the Arts London - Integrated Study Abroad

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so many new things about my major that I never would've thought I would learn, and I would love to go back for at least a full school year and learn even more.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

A great experience overall, nothing to complain about!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

All faculty were very helpful, I felt confident in their answers when I had a question.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

It was a great flat, but there were many things wrong with it. There was black mold on top of the showers and a leak in the walls of my room.

* Food:

The food was overall good, you need to bring your own seasonings and things like that to make the flavor you want it, food tastes WAYY different in the UK.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt very welcomed with the British students in my classes and in the studios, everyone wanted to help me and I made a lot of close new friends.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I personally did not have to seek medical attention, but my roommate did and she had some trouble getting the medication she needed in a timely manner.

* Safety:

I felt pretty safe in the city. Remember to watch your back and your belongings, and look both ways before crossing the street!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I fell in love with the school right away, and I felt so welcomed. It was like home away from home.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $100/200
