Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was perfect except for missing the opportunity for some more formal discussion.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Megumi was perfect. She was nice, friendly and fun as well as amazingly organized and helpful.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

In Kyoto: Palace Side Hotel Naoshima: beach yurts Kanazawa: hotel Tokyo: YMCA

All of the hotels were great except for the YMCA in Tokyo. There was no closet, no refrigerator, and no kitchen. There was only one laundry machine which was outside of the hotel in the basement. It did not work very well, did not dry (although it was supposed to) and was often unavailable. The closest laundromat was a 30 minute walk away. The YMCA was well below the standard of the other hotels we stayed in. The only other compliant is that in Kyoto I was put in one of the two rooms that had three people, which was very crowded. The rooms of three people were not given the larger rooms which would have made it slightly better. It mostly seems unfair and unnecessary that we paid the same amount for less space when we could have just gotten another room for the extra two people. We were also told before hand that if there was an odd number of people, the last would get there own room.

* Food:

Everything was great and healthy (though not vegetarian).

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I would not eliminate anything.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
