University of Texas at Austin: Summer - Into To Numerical Methods and Data Analytics

Croatia's beautiful coastline, unique rock formations, Roman ruins, and quaint historical cities do not always make one think of oil and gas platforms, but they do exist there too. This program provides a unique opportunity to master the fundamental concepts in numerical methods as well as spatial data analytics, and their relation to subsurface problems. Students will visit gas storage near Zagreb & explore related topics in the European context that are relevant today more than ever. They will visit national parks that are prime (and beautiful) examples of karst hydrogeology. They will also attend selected talks at the local petroleum engineering conference (PESS) in Dubrovnik & network with attendees. Lastly, they will spend time in the capital of Zagreb and form lasting friendships with the University of Zagreb students. Cultural sites to be visited include: spending two weeks in Dubrovnik, the UNESCO Cultural Heritage site; visiting the birthplace and museum of Nikola Tesla and gothic cathedral in Zagreb.
