Studying abroad in England changed my life and opened my eyes. Past Review

University of Sussex: Brighton - International Summer School

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Definitely worthwhile. I gained an understanding of cultural differences and made me think outside of the box as far as how we think as Americans and how we should be more open to differences.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Workload was not bad at all, grading system was more than fair, teaching methods were great, classes were a lot smaller and more personal. Better experience than taking classes at UCR for sure.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Strengths were many, weaknesses were few.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

You buy your own food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Discovery Tours in Brighton was amazing. But also take the time to find out about events happening within the country that are within reasonable distance and budget to make it to. The special events arranged by the program was also very good. Take advantage of those.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

City was safe, learn how to fight though

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What could be improved?
  • Almost nothing
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Don't waste any time. Make the best out of every second that you have while you're abroad. It will be the best time of your life if you make it the best time of your life. Talk to anyone and everyone. Don't hold back. Travel EVERYWHERE. You will not have this opportunity ever again.
