About

Pitt in Ecuador at the Andes and Amazon Field School is designed to immerse you in the Amazonian environment in an interdisciplinary context.  If you are interested in less commonly taught, indiginous languages, you study Kichwa language in the afternoon. In the mornings you can choose from a variety of courses to get you out into the forest and community. You don't need to have studied Spanish to participate in Pitt in Ecuador- all courses are taught in English.

The mission of the Andes and Amazon Field School is to provide a safe and comfortable setting in the Ecuadorian Amazon where native cultural specialists can work together with academic scholars and students to preserve Amazonian knowledge of nature; to explore new ways of preserving biodiversity in the increasingly fragmented Amazonian forest and of sustaining Amazonian communities together with the environment. The Field School will prepare you for work with indigenous communities whether in NGOs, business, or government settings.
