Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was a little difficult considering there was so much information to know in such little time but it was extremely difficult besides the amount. The instructors are also very willing to help.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Wish they had told us about more to do near the university and earlier, instead of towards the end. They will hunt you down for the money though so don't mess with Laura. However, after continuous email asking for the full amount, despite being told it was okay if the financial aid came in after the program ended, when I finally gave her the full amount and asked if everything was okay, she never got back to me.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Beautiful housing but terrible wifi. However, the house made up for it.

* Food:

Amazing!!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Everyone is really kind.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I met great people and had the time of my life for a great price in a beautiful country.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I have a problem with spending and it got worse in a foreign country especially since I wanted to buy everything. But, I survived.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I like to eat so I could easily spend $100 a week on food.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Budget your money on souvenirs and food and make a weekly budget. Also, only carry so much money on excursions. Buying souvenirs for cheap is easier at smaller stores.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Beginner
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? Spanish 2
How many hours per day did you use the language?
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Just listen to locals
