What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
My experience abroad has reinforced my desire to travel the world. I gained great insight into myself as a person, the european mindset. I plan to return to Scotland many times in the future as well as go to the rest of the United Kingdom and many other places.

Personal Information

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Depending on the course/module the work load could be anywhere from very light to heavy. This and the way the courses were taught and graded also heavily depended not just on subject but which year of study the course was under. I found the grading to be much harsher than grading and expectations in American institutions. Depending on the course level and the instructor you may receive instruction or essentially teach yourself the course.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Good location, good neighborhood, had to buy all essentials upon arrival.

* Food:

you are entirely responsible for feeding yourself, there are no meal plans, no cafeteria, food is not part of room/board fees. All food expenses come out of pocket.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Macbeth field trip touring Scone palace grounds where Scottish Kings were crowned, Abbey at Dunkeld on the edge of Birnham wood, and the location of Macbeth's hill fort.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Direct Enrollment/Exchange

* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? Direct Enrollment

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? have a very solid idea of how much money you need at home in a given period of time, then double it. if you aren't very independent, need family or other people around, you won't enjoy it. prepare to see your GPA fall.
