University of Dundee: Dundee - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I got to attend classes at a Scottish University and therefore got an insight into the Common Law System and the teaching methods in the UK. Moreover, I was able to improve my English skills further. Plus I met people from all around the world.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

There were absolutely no problems with the program administration in Dundee. If any issues appeared, we would have definitely had people to go to though.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in student halls (Heathfield Student accommodation) and shared a flat with 5 other international students. The flat was really well equipped, we only needed to buy cutlery, plates, pots, etc. and a quilt. We had a huge kitchen and living area which has been lately renovated. Each one of us had their own (fully furnished) room and bathroom. The only disadvantage of the accommodation is the high cost. Nontheless, in return we received great service and support whenever we needed help in the flat.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

It was easy to get an appointment at the local medical center. After calling them the appointment was set for either the same or the next day. The center was close to campus.

* Safety:

I felt safe in Dundee at all times.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I have no complaints about the Erasmus+ program. Would therefore do it again.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Compared to life in Germany, living in the UK is quite a lot more expensive.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language
