University of Dundee: Dundee - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Definitely. I decided to go on an erasmus exchange because I wanted to learn new approaches to art. And that's what I found in the DJCAD.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I didn't receive any help from the university. I decided to search a shared flat by my own.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

No experience with healthcare.

* Safety:

The city centre can be scaring sometimes at night.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Due to the program that I chose I spent most of time with undergraduate students. If I could repeat it I probably would choose a different program in order to join other master students.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It wasn't easy. The cost of living in Scotland is higher than what I was used to in Spain. Just the rent in Dundee costs around 300£ per month.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 50£

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

As a part of the assessment I had to give a public presentation about my artistic research in Scotland.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Advanced
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? First-B2.
How many hours per day did you use the language?
