Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

In this program, we were required to complete all of the assignments for Illinois State University prior to leaving. Therefore, I felt like the workload was incredibly lighter once I was abroad.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I believe that they prepared me very well and I was ready for my trip when I got there.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in a very welcoming home and safe neighborhood. My host family was very helpful and nice.

* Food:

A few other students and I really enjoyed Wetherspoons in Eastbourne.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I loved the Paris trip!!!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I hurt my foot one weekend and my host family took very good care of me. They made sure I saw the pharmacist and got the right kind of treatment. My program leaders stayed in contact with me until they knew I was better.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $50 per week.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Remember that you are going to be abroad for a long time, so it is important to stretch your money as much as you can. I think a common mistake made is that you save so much money so you feel like you have a lot when you first get there and can go a little crazy spending it, but then run out very quickly.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Direct Enrollment/Exchange

* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? Direct Enrollment
