Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The grading system in the UK is very difficult still for me to understand. Though talking to peers about the meaning of numerical grades was helpful, it is very difficult to understand how well I performed. I found the workload at UCL manageable and the educational system -- the focus on independent study -- preferable to the Wellesley system -- the weekly tasks and frequent quizzes. I also preferred the style in which modules are designed, in that, at Wellesley, modules have topics too broad for my taste. I preferred taking courses on a single work by one philosopher or on a very focussed and well-defined 10-week-appropriate topic.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I felt like one of the regular UCL students and had no trouble registering for modules.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

UCL halls are alright and it's easy to buy all the things you need like hangers, towels, sheets, etc. nearby

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I really enjoyed the Bloomsbury tour offered during orientation.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Healthcare is easily accessible.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I don't know how much I spent each week, but living in London is expensive.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? -
