What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained an appreciation for a country that has long been a mystery to many Americans. I learned a great deal about they history, music and culture that I will be able to use with my students as well as personally.

  • I would have liked to learn more about modern Cuban history - 1850 to current era.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? That the focus was on African culture and music in Cuba, and a heavy focus on religion (i.e. Santeria). I probably still would have attended the program, but I was hoping for more information about modern Cuban history and culture (Revolution, etc.), as well as modern music forms.
