Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The teaching methods were quite different during one session a teacher might teach from the book and during another the teacher made up his own formulas and own methods so it was very hard trying to figure out what each teacher was going to test on during the test since they switched after your midsession exams.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They were extremely helpful in the registering process and suggesting classes that could fit our schedule.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

It was a room inside possibly the best family in Australia's house. It was on 26 Carr St. basically a 2 min or less walk to the beach. Penny our landlady was the best, its a really nice house as well and the room had a big bed and a desk.

I found my housing from UNSW student housing office. My house was a min walk to the major bus stop and a 30 min ride to the city. It was also close to Coogee Bay hotel a popular nightclub.

* Food:

It was good, there is a lot of asian Food everywhere.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

It was the best experience of my life.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Australia was extremely safe I never heard of robberies around campus.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I didn't realize how high Australia's minimum wage was so I hadn't put into perspective the cost of everything over there. Cereal was $8 for fruit loops so in general food was more expensive.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Direct Enrollment/Exchange

Comments: This was the most challenging course I've ever taken. The first professor was ok but read off the slides the entire time and the second didn't even teach from the book just made up his own stuff. It was hard to prepare for the test because it was so unpredictable.
