The Traveling School provides teenage girls and nonbinary students (ages 15-18) the opportunity to explore the world and learn about themselves through academic, physical, and cultural challenges. Students earn full credit, immerse in new cultures, develop outdoor skills, and build confidence during this transformational semester.
Potential activities on this semester include:
Potential activities on this semester include:
- Explore and experience one of the oldest haciendas in Ecuador
- Participate in community projects and language study with indigenous Quichua families
- Delve into the jungle with naturalists and explore plants, animals and waterways of the Amazon Basin
- Observe glaciology while hiking over Peruvian mountain basses of the Cordillera Blanca
- Study the mysteries of the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu with a traditional healer
- Practice Spanish skills in markets, villages and schools
- Ascend a glacier with crampons and ice axes in Bolivia’s Cordillera Real
- This semester is for you if you like: mountains, color, hiking, rugged terrain, community interaction, villages, Spanish, art, children, snorkeling, and cooperative spirit.
