The Intern Group: Shanghai Internship Placement Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
1. The internship at Studio White Group is so much fun. Management here is really nice and very funny! Makes going to work every day enjoyable. I have learned a lot and will take a lot into my future endeavors. The people I work with are very friendly as well and we also get a long great. I also like there definition of business casual! Especially because it is so hot outside it’s nice to wear less clothing.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Walking away with the knowledge and experience that I know I can take into my future endeavors and career. Studio White Group is a sensational business to work at with great and very intelligent management and a great staff around the office.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

From the moment I applied until the time I got here, communication was great and stayed consistent. Whenever I had questions Tommy was there to help and answer. Even if I needed him to talk to someone on the phone he would do that for me. Everything is very well organized and everyone is great to hang out with and we all get along perfectly. I honestly think if I had any other intern director besides Tommy my experience wouldn’t have been the same. He has really made this whole experience more than I could ever ask for. Not only is he my director but I think of him as a close friend and will forever stay in contact.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Great roommates! Great area to live in. Around the popular areas and restaurants. Easy to get to and from work. Metro close by.

* Food:

The food is fantastic. I like traveling to different areas and experiencing new flavors. The food is one of the parts that really make living in China a great experience.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I was never afraid to do anything with people or by myself. Going out at night was fun, meeting the locals and even foreigners were great, and living the chines life is a memory I will keep forever.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

They were very much on top of everything. Even when the smallest thing happens they are there giving their full support, guidance, and help.

* Safety:

Keep your head on a swivel and your eyes up. Rules and regulations are a lot different here than other countries. Once you get used to everything its fine but you can still be surprised here and there. The community respects everyone the people are very nice to foreigners.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

1. This program is all around spectacular. From the moment I applied until the time I got here, communication was great and stayed consistent. Whenever I had questions Tommy was there to help and answer. Even if I needed him to talk to someone on the phone he would do that for me. Everything is very well organized and everyone is great to hang out with and we all get along perfectly.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I like to spend money and buy food everywhere I go. I know others lived on this budget fine but I like to spoil myself.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 1100 RMB
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you want to do it all, eat it all, buy gifts for friends and family, work hard and save up money and have fun! You're only here for a short time. Make the best out of every moment. If you want to be more conservative, sticking to a budget it quite easy and can be done.
