The Intern Group: Madrid Internship Placement Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Met some incredible people from all over the world, both within my workplace and within the InternGroup! Within my workplace I learnt a lot about editing international work in English, interviewing, IT/Engineering, writing job descriptions, LinkedIn, etc. I also learnt so much about the Spanish culture from first hand experiences as well as the local people.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

At first I thought the program was quite expensive, but now I have been through the process it is worth every penny! The InternGroup organise really cool events with delicious inclusive meals. It is a great way to meet everyone before you are able to organise trips and things to-do by yourselves, definitely felt like you had a great social support and family away from home. They also provided a great welcome pack, that included a number for an international hospital (useful in my case!) My only regret is that I didnĀ“t stay longer, it is sad to say goodbye to the Spanish way of life!

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 80 per week

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • The other interns
  • The inclusive, small workplace
  • The organised events
* What could be improved?
  • The land lady and stove in the accomodation
  • Toledo tour (not the best guide, would have been good if you had some free time in the city instead of just going to churches..)
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Be super weary of your stuff (do not leave your wallet in a backpack or your phone in your pocket) - the pickpocketers are good! Plus, get travel insurance that does not make you pay upfront, (I got some bad medical bills!) I think the insurance recommended by the InternGroup was better than the cheaper one I bought.
