The Intern Group: Hong Kong Internship Placement Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I have been working in an internship for start-up company that specialises in a digital marketing platform. This has been particularly exciting, as I have had the opportunity to work in a close knit team as they prepare to launch their brand new product which is a comprehensive guide to Chinese social media. I see Hong Kong as a city of contrast, an unique blend of East and West, a city of diversity where the new and the old meet at every turn. It is a unique juxtaposition of opposing elements, with skyscraper jungles and forested mountain slopes, noisy jam-packed streets and tranquil bays and islands, wet markets and designer shopping malls, and so on. The Intern Group has helped me experience a great work culture, surrounded with unique fellow interns from a range of cultures, and all the while supported by a great team of support staff who have hosted a variety of engaging activities and trips.

The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
