The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management: Study Abroad in Dubai, UAE!

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes it was. I learned a lot about the luxury segment in Duabi; and on top of that I made friends for a lifetime.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Studying at EAHM gave me the opportunity to experience Dubai, meet friends from all over the world, and learn from recognized hospitality leaders.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Excellent organization and staff. I felt warmly welcomed and I remember EAHM as my family.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The dorms within EAHM are marvelous. They have everything you need and more. I also had access to the pool and the gym to keep my fitness rutine.

* Food:

The food at the pool bar is great and affordable. Students can also buy their own ingredients and cook at their dorms, which I loved to do with my friends.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Students from several nationalities gather together at EAHM. This was an amazing experience as we got to share classes and different point of view from different perspectives. This was very enriching.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Having an international insurance is always good (and most of the time mandatory for students). Dubai can be very expesive if you don't have a medical insurance.

* Safety:

The whole city is extremely safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I have no words to describe how much I learned from this experience at EAHM Dubai. I am extremely thankfull to all my professors, and EAHM Family. I want to go back again and study my MBA there.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I would say AED 500 per week
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Doing as many casual jobs as possible and participate in internships. This would give you extra money and on top of that you would gain a lot of experience.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

We communicated in English and my native languaje is Spanish. Also, with there are students from different nationalities so you can practice different languajes with your friends.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Advanced
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? Upper Intermediate
How many hours per day did you use the language? 10+
