What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I guess I should start off by saying I did not have the typical study abroad experience. I struggled with a lot before and during the program. There were definitely things about the location that didn't work out for me - I struggled to adjust to the food, I found it hard to make friends who were not in my group, I got bored very easily due to my budget, and living with my host mom was hard at times. That being said, this was by far the most transformative decision I have ever made in my entire life. I learned so much about myself through this program, and overall, Temple made it very easy for me to decide to go on this program somewhat last minute. The program director, Dr. Duran, was wonderful and helpful whenever anyone needed him. The excursions he planned and the information he provided were invaluable. Though I could have made more of an effort to separate myself more from the other English speaking students in the program, I still learned a lot by being in classes taught completely in Spanish and living with a woman who knew no English at all. My best advice if you're considering this program is to research everything you can about Oviedo, be sure that living with a host family is right for you, and really make sure you go into it informed. I went in uninformed (which was my own fault) and still managed to have a life-changing experience. What's the worst that could happen if you make an informed decision? I don't regret studying abroad here at all. Although I wouldn't study or live in the same location again, I'm still grateful for all that I learned from this program. It may not have been the best fit for me personally, but for someone who enters it a little more prepared, it would be fantastic. I came back feeling like I could face anything and do anything.

The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
