I learned a lot of German. Arriving in Berlin before the program I was almost helpless in finding a hostel, and I could hardly communicate. When I returned to Berlin at the end, everything was so much easier because I could really speak such better German. Definitely worthwhile.

Take your language skills to the next level by participating in Temple's Intensive German language program in Leipzig. The four-week program is designed for undergraduates who have completed at least one semester of university-level German. As a program participant, you will enroll in a course(s) at interDaF (of the University of Leipzig’s Herder Institut), a non-profit association which constitutes the University of Leipzig’s center specializing in German as a foreign language. The Herder Institut has more than 50 years of excellence in advancing German language skills, as well as teaching about the culture and civilization of Germany.
Students studying at Temple University Japan or Rome Program for the fall, spring, or summer semester may apply for a scholarship to help defray the costs. The maximum award is $5000. Students may apply by completing the Scholarship application and essay, available within the online program application.

To be eligible for these awards, applicants must be full-time, matriculated undergraduates and have demonstrated financial need; have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 for a semester scholarship; and participate in the Temple University sponsored program.
