Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I arrived in Swansea with the expectations of taking the classes I had "signed up" for the previous fall. When I went to officially enroll in Swansea University courses, three of the courses I was planning on taking were no longer available. I had not been notified that this change was taking place. I only got credit for one course while I was there because nothing else of value to me at my home institution was offered in Swansea. Regarding the grading system, you may be led to believe that a 70% is still an A at the University, however getting anything above a 65% was nearly impossible. I found that professor's here did not respect individual ideas but rather wanted you to regurgitate everything they had said in class.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Interstudy was fine. Swansea Uni was not helpful whatsoever.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Great times had for the entire three months with the english/welsh students i lived with. made some great friends i will maintain contact with for a time to come.

* Food:

cooked everything myself, not many options for eating out for a reasonable price.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

great trip to southern ireland with interstudy. certainly a highlight of the experience. all involved (students and adults) were extremely nice, helpful, and fun

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

nothing out of the ordinary

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • Living with local students, not americans
  • interstudy trip to ireland
  • freedom to do whatever i wanted
* What could be improved?
  • one more big trip
  • the pound to become almost worthless
  • communication between Swansea Uni - Interstudy - Me regarding course cancellation
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? if you are a business student, do NOT go on this program. Interstudy was fine, but Swansea University itself was a disaster for me.
