Best Experience Ever Past Review

By (SUNY - College at Geneseo) - abroad from 06/25/2017 to 07/31/2017 with

SUNY Geneseo: Traveling - Mediterranean Roots Summer Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to be independent and become one with the locals, instead of sticking out as tourists. I learned to enjoy the moment, the trip moves fast so you can't be worrying about the past or future.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Most of the education took place either on the way to the sites or at the sites which made it much more interesting than the typical classroom.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Probably the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at.

* Food:

The professors know the best restaurants around. And you're in Greece, Italy, and Spain so the food is amazing.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I interacted so much with the locals making me feel totally immersed.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I never felt unsafe. Saftey was always the top priority.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

The amount you see is insane. You get so close to your group and never want to leave. The professors are amazing and make sure you are having the time of your life.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

We stayed in apartments in the big cities so you could make your own food. How much you spend is totally up to you.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
