I Have to Go Back to Siena Next Summer. Just Because. Past Review

By (English Literature/Art History, SUNY - College at Geneseo) for

SUNY Geneseo: Siena - Medieval and Renaissance Italian City States

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I just have to go back to Siena. I totally fell in love with the city in a way I wasn't expecting. It increased my appreciation for my field of study and only heightened my desire to spend more time in Europe.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

My only criticism is that there wasn't more of a language component. I think spending even just one day focusing on key phrases and vocab would have been enormously helpful.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

A curfew is fine. A 1am curfew abroad is not. The location was great and the service totally adequate, but having students come in when the city really goes out is ridiculous and unrealistic. We also didn't get to interact with locals on a very personal basis, which would have helped with the language barrier.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
