SUNY Binghamton: London - Semester in London

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes, it most certainly was. I think I gained a lot of growth as an individual that can be applied in the real world, and in my future learning as College student. Going abroad was the best thing that could have ever happened to me and I am forever indebted to those that made it possible. The faculty was sublime and the students were as well. Overall, the people I experienced London with became more or less a family to me in those few short months. It was truly a time I will never forget.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I feel I was able to get more out of the Study Abroad program academically than I have been able to at Binghamton University.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

She was able to be on call whenever we needed her. The faculty overall, was caring and helpful to the students. If the student needed anything they were there.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Substantial. It was enough for myself and two other roommates to live in.

Housing was clean and manageable to myself and other two roommates.

* Food:

I cooked most of the time, and when I went out I was always able to enjoy my choice of food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Being that it was my first time out the country, I was fascinated at the new cultural differences I encountered for the first time and absorbed each experience to the best of my ability.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

We were able to see a health practitioner at any time. The area we lived in was far from being dangerous; therefore I never felt threatened.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Around 60$ each week on groceries. Being that the currency exchange greatly differs, it was rather expensive at times.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Buying your own groceries!

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

It was an English course. English is my first language.
