What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was worthwhile. I learned about their lifestyle, government, and way of thinking. It's important for American's to see that we are not the coolest country in the world. Our way of doing things is not the only way.

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

1. We were only there two weeks so we were staying in hotels ($30-40 a night) and eating out every meal. It was okay though because of the short duration.

* Was housing included in your program cost? No
* Was food included in your program cost? No
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $350
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Don't eat at the hotels. It's really expensive and not worth the time. Go to a grocery store and buy some easy breakfast foods (rolls/nutella, yogurts, etc.). Food is really cheap and it saves you a lot of money to shop for food at the grocery stores.

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

Our professor communicated with the people when necessary. We just learned basic phrases.

How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? None
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? None.
How many hours per day did you use the language?
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Study it before hand and picking it up when you are there will be so much easier!
