Study Abroad Programs in Ghana

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
The whole time we were busy seeing and learning about different aspects of the Ghanaian culture. It was hurt breaking but yet empowering at the same time. You can walk away from the experience with a greater appreciation for your life and the community in which you live. Wanting to assist and make a difference for those people who are less fortunate than you.

The whole educational experience was beyond anything I could have imagined going in to the actual trip. Every day was filled with a new experience. It was emotionally draining because you wanted to help everyone. But at the same time we were fore warned about the conditions from the Professors at Marygrove College. A nightly debriefing really came in handy while we were there to assist us in processing everything we had experience during our daily encounters.
