Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The first half was a Northwestern course, so it was very similar to what we were familiar with. However, the second half was much less rigorous.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The real strength was that the program got us to see so much - paid for museum cards, took us to the theater, etc.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

Food was not an issue at all. Cheap food at the dining hall for lunch if we were interested, and many grocery stores nearby.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Trip to Weimar was fantastic. The program really took us on a lot of cultural outings (Berliner Ensemble, Ring of the Nibelungs, etc).

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Berlin is really safe and I knew that if I had any health problems we would have been really well taken care of.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Eating in is obviously cheaper, although there are lots of cheap restaurants, especially for lunch.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Beginner
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? Took one full year of German
